"EL Lago"
Tourist Resort is located in the heart
of the Altiplano from Granada,
a very beautiful land full of contrasts. It is placed 960 meters above
the sea level and here you will find two Nature
Reserves (Sierra
de Castril y Sierra de Baza), the largest
desert-like area in Europe and the greatest reservoirs of water in
southern Spain (Negratín Reservoir, San Clemente Reservoir
and Portillo Reservoir). Besides, it is located close to one of the
highest points of this region, after Sierra Nevada (La Sagra, 2,383
m)
The Altiplano, which was a great lake in prehistoric
times, is a wide basin full of sediments from the Miocene. Therefore,
the large number of paleontological remains in this area such as Fuente
Nueva and Venta Micena sites where the first European hominid lived
(Orce Man)
1,800,000 years ago. The Altiplano is a desert-like area mainly formed
of limestone singularly shaped by the action of the water from local
rivers belonging to the Guadina Menor catchment area.
Perhaps, the village that reflects all this contrasts
is Castillejar,
where it is located "El Lago" Tourist Resort, in Paraje
del Cerrón, a large oasis in the middle of the desert. This
area has been inhabited for people from all eras since prehistoric
times; the sites conserved point out the synergy between them and
this setting. In fact, the most characteristic buildings are the caves;
houses dug out in the stone that has become the last word in rural
tourism. Therefore, these are called ""houses for cave-dwellers".
Due to this synergy, now we are able to offer the
facilities from "El Lago" Tourist Resort in Castillejar.
In this resort you will find a harmonious combination of the four
basic elements. The Mother Earth hides the 7 cave-houses fully equipped
for living. The artificial lake, a large amount of water for bathing,
represents the Water. The Fire, essential element used to convert
the products of the fertile Vega de Castillejar to supply our restaurant
with the most exquisite delicacies. Finally, the Air caresses our
campsite and playgrounds, barbecue area, amphitheater, etc. |
